Knoxville TN

Knoxville, Tennessee, has a good mix of homes on the market at any given time. It’s a mid-sized city, with a population of roughly 185,000. It was originally settled as a frontier town in 1786, and in 1790 it became the capital of the Southwest Territory. The city’s own University of Tennessee, which traces its history through Blount College, was founded in 1794. As you can see, Knoxville is a city with loads of American history behind it. However, the city and its inhabitants have kept up with the times and Knoxville is still a thriving metropolis today.

Fun Things To Do in Knoxville

In addition to all the local history that comes alive in Knoxville, there is also a remarkable museum of art, a hopping farmers’ market, Zoo Knoxville and the renowned Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum to visit. The city’s Market Square is home to many popular shops and restaurants, as well as outdoor theatre and movie showings and various cultural festivals. The Sunsphere, built for the 1982 World’s Fair, has an observation deck which can give you a fantastic (and free!) vantage point to see the entire city from above. Another can’t-miss feature of Knoxville is the 1,000 acres of forest along the Tennessee River known as Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness.

The Housing Market in Knoxville

Knoxville’s median household income is around $36,000, but it also has a low cost of housing, especially for a city with all of its amenities. The median home listing price here is less than $180,000, whereas the nationwide median is roughly $225,000. There are many gorgeous homes on the market to fit every budget and space need, but only around 43% of homes in Knoxville are owned, and the rest are rented. If you’re looking for the perfect plot of land so you can build your custom dream home, you’ll find plenty of vacant lots in Knoxville where you can make your dream a reality.
