Lincoln is the capital of Nebraska and an important political, economic and cultural center for the area. With a population of around 285,000 as of 2017, it’s the second most populous city in the state. With Lincoln’s recent economic growth, it has also seen an emerging music scene, especially since the opening of Pinnacle Bank Arena. It has earned a reputation as a musical city.

Annual events include the Lincoln National Guard Marathon and Half-Marathon, the Uncle Sam Jam and Boo at the Zoo. There is also a popular farmers’ market between May and October each year.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is the university’s main campus. It is also the third largest employer in the city. It attracts many international students and is a key driver for innovation, growth, and diversity in Lincoln.
