Additionally, the City Center Initiative is a current proposal that would develop a walkable downtown area in South Burlington. This would help to develop cultural and commercial activity in the city.
There are several parks in South Burlington including Red Rocks Park along the shores of Lake Champlain. Veterans Memorial Park is the city’s most well known with recreation areas and greenspace.
The city has four elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools. Although there is no higher education in South Burlington, both nearby Burlington and Colchester house universities.
